What is an E-way Bill?

The E-way Bill aims to streamline the transportation of goods and curb tax evasion. It tracks the movement of goods and ensures the correct tax is paid.

It is generated online on the GST portal or via SMS using the necessary details like invoice number, consignment details, and transporter ID.

Mandatory for 

Goods valued above Rs. 50,000 must have an E-way Bill. However, states may have different thresholds.


The validity depends on the distance the goods are transported. Typically, it’s one day for every 100 kilometers.
